Organic molecules like phthalocyanines or tetracyanobenzene co-deposited with transition metals on metallic or insulating surfaces may build ordered networks with fascinating properties. They may combine electrical conduction with magnetic moments and are interesting for spintronics or other applications. In the talk, ab-initio results for these metal-organic networks will be reported, as well as the results of XMCD measurements and their interpretation by multiplet theory.
